YVY Mag: Cold Blood

Photobucket
Playing: Stylus Robb & Mattias - Sensation Shot (Original Mix)

I'M BACK PEOPLE!!! (Well kinda, lots going on at the mo)...
Past month has been a stale one creatively speaking, a very distinct lack of inspiration but we all know it goes in cycles. Spent most the week re-vamping my viewbook with the idea to get everything in order and presentable, presentation is everything in my books. Doing so had led me to get my new(ish) pieces of work out there in which i present "Cold Blood" to you all. Shot first with Ernestas whilst in London, the general idea was based around a crazed fighter fresh from a bloody war, lots of mud & lots of blood giving it a brutal edge, even though with all the harshness, i wanted a slight tinge of sensuality from the guys if you can call it that? Shot later with Evolution model Lloyd and then later with Julian, Cold Blood i submitted to YVY Mag exclusively and am rather pleased.

It's a great pleasure to present my latest editorial, published exclusively for the the amazing online mag that is WWIT. Focusing on this years A/W season pieces, Shooting Man Up was the best location challenge to date and I'm so pleased with the finished result..WWIT is on the way up, glad i can be part of it.

Up, Down, Forwards not Backwards..

Firstly, i had to add this video for viewing pleasures, i buy the latest issue of Attitude mag, flick through to see a small picture of my boy Ed (wa-hey!), carry on flicking through and then a full editorial of Eddy (woohoo!), then actually reading the magazine i find out there is a video online (oh yes!). Great work by Oliver Warren & off course Mr. Stephans (woof!), Edward, do me the honours and pay me a visit some time soon (wink!)

Playing: Tikaro, J.Louis & Ferran- Today Is My Day (Extended Mix)

So now on with my ramblings, such a weird time right now, alot going on and decisions to make. Everybody needs a plan B in their career, mine was gym instructing which I'm still very passionate about but can't help but feel it is a vicious circle to get employment in the field. I passed my gym instructors course last year November but due to other work commitments with the agency i postponed looking for work in the gym until now. Things however are pretty slim and having had an interview for a private firm, being told they needed someone with more "working experience" didn't sit well in my mind, i keep thinking how do you get the experience when you can't get hired, even with the theoretical knowledge and 4 years practical experience training in a gym and athletics?

Either way i keep searching but has proven very unsuccessful, the other option is back to retail again, luckily i left my last employer on a good note so am hoping i may be able to wangle my way back in for a while but nothing is certain and i'm not basking all hope on that.

I then thought last night of the photography route but again there are many obstacles in the way, mostly in the form of experience and qualifications. I've never studied photography and have chosen to teach myself through trial and error however feel the options ahead are possible to achieve, most are looking for product photographers, something i'm not but won't turn down the opportunity to branch out and try new areas. Also have thought of portrait work, whatever i can get really but strongly feel i want to stay within the field off photography and progress further.

A part of me wants to give the modelling a fresh start, at one point i was happy to put it to rest but don't believe in stopping before actually "really" trying. Beforehand though, my model portfolio needs a drastic update, another task to work on.

Last note, Blog'd 2009- End Off Summer Mix is complete, be sure to download tomorrow night :)

New Muse: Part 1

Playing: J. Velarde, Luque, Vitti-Sundays At Heaven feat. Giovanna - Vocal Mix

Firstly... we have reached 100,000 hits, THANK YOU GUYS :D
Ernestas was my muse as you all very well know, and i must note that there is "not" life after Erny, haven spoke to him recently, he is considering returning to the UK later and i know I'll be first in line for a new shoot with him.

But then you come across certain models who just make you think wow! Peter is one of them, i could photograph him all day long and not get bored. I've shot with Peter twice racking up quite a bit of content, this small series i present to you all as New Muse Pt.1 (there is another model to follow soon), both models i can see becoming a staple feature in my development and work...stay tuned :)

Future

Playing: Juanjo Martin- Millennium (feat. Rebeka Brown)

I feel like i have a very over-active brain right now but it's not exactly a bad thing, my mind is buzzing with ideas, i want to shoot and shoot, but more importantly i feel like I've progressed another leap forward and enjoying every minute of it. For a good month and a half it was dead and i got quite fed up but now every week i have some form of a shoot and feel I'm back on track.

For the update, I've finally finished an editorial I've been working on for months but wont be posting online until it is published in print, it was an alternative version to the "Into The Groove" shoot i did with Ernestas but more raw and playful with more models including myself :)

Print publishing's really is my goal as I'm sure its many photographers, currently finishing up another editorial i plan to pitch to another magazine, 5 underwear brands, 1 sexy model and photography work I'm proud off, some of my best in my opinion.

Also doing these recent shoots have spurred my mind onto other projects, I've been approached twice by Bruno Gmunder for a possible book project but haven't progressed on the idea due to not feeling i have enough content or the right content so to speak. My work is always changing and evolving so I've really been thinking about the possibility. Plans for this week is to put together some themes and get shooting once again, book project in mind!

Lastly, the my viewbook profile has been updated, few new pieces on there, will give you an idea on whats to come.

Electra Barbarella

Playing: Nick Corline- Sweet Dreams

Quite simply, i heart beauty shoots! Always so simple and the result is always a joy.
Barbarella (Model, Singer & DJ) kindly turned up and saved the day from being a disaster with 2 models not showing (at least 1 did apologise). This shoot being for Ru-Mel's new venture "Beauty Around The Clock" which specialises in beauty treatments done in the comfort of your own home. This was the first of 3 shoots for BATC, personally some of my favourite beauty shots so far.

Revival

Playing: Roger Sanchez- Here We Go Again (Saeed Younan Unreleased Edit)

Revived is probably the best way to describe how i felt today after what was the quickest photo shoot ever. I've had a looonnngg day running around London, first passing through Brick Lane to check out a studio in the area which may come in handy soon, then to Islington to visit a friend briefly, Central London for a t-shirt hunt then onto Tottenham to pick up aload of stuff off mine that i left for months at the studio (sorry Simon, i know you loved the ice skates really). Since 9am it has been non stop but the highlight of the day had to be picking up my camera again and actually making use off it...BLISS beyond words!!.

Unfortunately time wasn't on our side but boy did we work, 2 editorials shot in under 2 hours, such great professionalism from model Peter who is a great guy to work with. It was literally pose, snap and change but so smooth that it was just a joy. Got some really great pictures for both editorials but must apologise as you'll have to wait until both are published in print ;-). I've had some projects under wraps for a while but feel it's time to push myself to landing some more published work in the mainstream mags and progressing up that ladder to becoming a professional published photographer. Revived i finally feel after a short relapse, up and on to better things i say!

**Note to Magazine Editors who may be reading and like my photography work, if you would at all be interested in publishing my forthcoming editorials or wish to see previews beforehand, please be in touch, would love to talk :) **
